COVID-19 Grand Rounds These sessions took place weekly during the Omicron surge in December/January. They are Trust-wide, streamed live and available to access on catch-up. Executive and clinical/operational leads use these sessions to inform all staff of latest developments related to Covid-19, with the opportunity for questions & answers. Medical Staffing Committee All consultants are invited to the committee as members which meets quarterly. The consultant chair also chairs the Local Negotiating Committee which is the formal group that meets with the staff side representatives. The CEO, Deputy CEO and Executive Medical Director are invited to attend. The agenda includes an update from the CEO. Disease Group Strategic Intentions Event All disease group leads were invited to an event in December hosted by the Executive Medical Director and supported by the Divisional Medical Directors, Associate Medical Directors’, and the Director of Strategy. Outputs are shared with the Clinical Advisory Group to triangulate with Clinical Directors and have influenced the developing clinical strategies and planning. National Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Day The 15 th March was the inaugural National Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Day. There were posters throughout the Trust and a board at the Oak Road entrance for patients and staff to add their comments. Examples are ‘they are my lifeline’ (patient); ‘invaluable member of the team around a patient’. There was a lot of activity on twitter promoting the event and a video from Janelle Yorke, Chief Nurse. Monthly Chief Nurse Forum The first Chief Nurse Forum was held in November 2021. The sessions are for any member of Trust staff to have the opportunity to ask questions or raise issues with Janelle Yorke, Chief Nurse and Theresa Plaiter, Deputy Chief Nurse. The session in March 2022 has a theme of Nurse/AHP Career Pathways at the Christie. Chinwag This is a bi-monthly online staff magazine which acts as a more informal vehicle for communicating with staff. The magazine contains stories relating to activities and news from across the Trust as well as staff inputting their own personal stories. There is also a bi-weekly newsletter for the Research & Innovation division. Regular communications to consultant staff through the Executive Medical Director. Friday Focus A Focus on Care Understanding Safety (Friday FoCUS) Group is convened alternate Fridays to review those incidents which trigger clinical concerns due to the potential or actual harm to patients. The meeting is chaired by the Deputy Chief Nurse with support from the Patient Safety Team and attended by the Executive Chief Nurse. The group is established to provide a shared environment for clinical teams to identify clinical issues and lead learning and shared clinical practice. The group welcomes attendance and contribution from AHP’s, nurses at all levels (i.e., HCA’s, student nurses, Nursing Associates, Ward Leaders), Governance and Quality Leads and Quality Improvement and Clinical audit representation.
