wife Claire Jameson has been a Christie patient. He said: “I would like to pass our sincere thanks to the Physio and OT teams at The Christie whom have provided such an uplifting, reassuring and most importantly of all, rehabilitative service. “Being in hospital is not a pleasant experience but Claire was in the right place and has been supported by a truly tremendous team; I think you should be very proud of them all. “I don’t really know how to repay the care, love and attention your team has offered Claire; and I’m not sure that the words above do enough to express just how overwhelmed I am at how much of themselves that the team put into their jobs. But I am eternally grateful for meeting them all during Claire’s stay. Katharine Pantelides, physiotherapy and occupational therapy manager said: “As their manager I am proud and continually amazed how staff go above and beyond for patients, often working beyond their hours or outside of their remit to ensure the patients receive the highest level of care. The staff, often with a very heavy caseload, are highly motivated and take enormous pride and satisfaction in seeing patients improve and leave the hospital going to their chosen discharge destination. “The staff share the happiness of the ‘highs’ but sometimes also feel the sadness of the ‘lows’ especially with patients they’ve worked closely with – but this is testament to how much they care.

Sarah Ashworth whose mum was treated in the department. She praised many of the team for their compassion and care when her mum was taken ill. Annie Dewberry, deputy divisional director of operations, said: “The opening of the IPU has been a challenging time for the team, as it has required the integration of three core teams into one clinical area. Due to their dedication and professionalism, they have created a new ‘IPU culture’ together. “Over the past two years, the teams have worked hard to become a cohesive team, to deliver specific benefits such as reduced delays and cancellations and faster turnaround time. Feedback from patients is fantastic which is demonstrated continuously through friends and family test comments.” If you want to put someone forward for ‘You made a difference’ , nomination postcards and entry boxes can be found in the restaurant, reception areas and on wards, or you can nominate a colleague via the intranet. A panel, which includes a non-executive director and governor, agrees the winner.
