Previous antimicrobial history is considered

Good prescribing practice of antimicrobials is described with in the trusts Antimicrobial policy and supported by a national prescribing framework. Antimicrobial prescribing and usage are monitored, reviewed and presented at monthly Nosocomial Infection Performance (NIPR) / antimicrobial stewardship committee.

The use of antimicrobials is managed and monitored: • to reduce

inappropriate prescribing. to ensure patients with infections are treated promptly with correct antibiotic.

Mandatory reporting requirements are adhered to, and boards continue to maintain oversight. Risk assessments and mitigations are in place to avoid unintended consequences fromother pathogens.

Boards continue to maintain oversite via the trust’s governance committee structure. Despite step down of meetings during high prevalence waves of COVID-19 the risk, quality and governance structures have remained in place. The antimicrobial policy contains evidence-based guidance to avoid unintended consequences from other pathogens

4. Provide suitable accurate information on infections to service users, their visitors and any person concerned with providing further support or nursing/ medical care in a timely fashion. Due to the vulnerability of our patient group visiting restrictions have at times been above and beyond that of national guidance, with visiting being restricted to long stay and patients under 18yrs of age as well as those at the end of life. All visitors are screened prior to entry by a designated screening team to check for symptoms of COVID-19 and are required to have a negative
