process and forms for radiotherapy patients. The RCR brought together clinical oncology consultants, trainees, radiographers, nurses, patients, lawyers and risk communication experts. The team in MRI scanning was one of five finalists in the BMJ awards for its work to streamline MRI scanning during the pandemic. The team was noted in the Diagnostic Team of the Year category for using accelerated protocols which negated the need to outsource our scanning as other Trusts had done, managing to recover from the pandemic more quickly than most Trusts in the UK. Congratulations to the complementary health and wellbeing team which won an award for the staff service they provide supporting colleagues during the pandemic. The team was named as winners in the mental health category in the Complementary Therapy Awards 2022. Dr Heather Williams, consultant medical physicist for nuclear medicine received an MBE from the Deputy Lieutenant of Greater Manchester at a ceremony in December. Dr Williams was awarded the honour for services to diversity and inclusion in science. Clinical scientist Rob Chuter was successful in winning a £10,000 grant from the North West Greener NHS Innovation Fund to examine the carbon footprint of radiotherapy treatments for patients. At The Christie, we also remain proud of each and every member of our team who shows loyalty and dedication. The latest long service awards were announced, recognising the remarkable contribution of our staff and volunteers who have worked at The Christie for 20, 30 and 40 years. Particular congratulations go to healthcare assistant Ann Hefferman and personal assistants Jayne Walker and Cheryl Wright who all celebrated 40 years service.
