All staff required to wear an FFP3 respirator should be fit tested to use at least two different masks

Where possible staff are tested on at least 2 different masks and re-tested when masks are no longer available of testing period has expired. When face fit tested, staff are provided with an individual record of the result and the mask information. See Staff fit testing record sheet. A central face fit testing register is maintained and displayed on the Trust intranet, indicating the mask type staff are trained to use and updated as required. (See central fit testing record). Where staff fail a particular model of FFP3 respirator an alternative is tested. Staff are provided with an individual record (see staff fit testing record sheet) and held centrally on the trust’s intranet. See central fit testing record.

Equipment, testing staff resources and staff engagement may at times limit testing on at least 2 masks.

A record of the fit test and result is given to and kept by the trainee and centrally within the organisation

Power hoods are available across the organisation. Failure data is now captured on the central fit testing record.
