These would prompt segregation in single room facilities and earlier testing. Contact tracing is undertaken for all asymptomatic in patients. These patients are informed of their contact status, appropriate guidance given in line with national guidance and a contact information entered onto the patients CWP infection control alert record. All in patients with new on set symptoms or asymptomatic in patients are tested and isolated based on clinical suspicion of COVID-19 until proven negative. Contact tracing is undertaken for all asymptomatic patients that are proven to have a positive COVID-19 result. Contacts of patients are informed of their contact status and isolation and care advice given regardless of whether they remain an in patient or have since been discharged. Contact information is entered onto the patients CWP infection control alert record. See Standard Operating Procedure: COVID-19 Infection Control Guidance for inpatients. Patients attending for routine appointments are screened for respiratory symptoms of COVID-19 at designated entrances. In these instances, patients will be isolated in designated facilities and assessed and tested by a trained registrant. Whether detected by the screening team or during a routine appointment, patients receive a rapid COVID-19 test to confirm symptoms and/or clinical suspicion. Not all patients attending for routine appointments that display symptoms require hospital admission. All patients that have tested positive whilst in- patients are followed up remotely/by telephone if discharged during their isolation period.

Isolation, testing and instigation of contact tracing is achieved for all patients with new-onset symptoms, until proven negative.

Patients that attend for routine appointments who display symptoms of COVID-19 are managed appropriately.

There have been occasions when patients have denied symptoms and have a temperature within normal range and get through entrance screening checks.
