It will also house an advanced 4D CT scanner which is significantly faster and more accurate than existing technology.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our Charity supporters, we continue to invest in pioneering research, world-class facilities and life-changing care that will shape the future of cancer treatment for generations to come. Now, we’re embarking on one of the most ambitious developments in The Christie’s history: the creation of a state-of-the-art scanning centre on Wilmslow Road. Advanced scanning technology plays a vital role in diagnosing cancer earlier, planning treatment more precisely and monitoring patients throughout their care. It gives clinicians the detailed insight they need to make faster, more informed decisions, helping to improve outcomes and save lives. Nearly every patient treated at The Christie will require a CT scan at some stage of their treatment. For many, access to the very latest imaging technology can make a life-changing difference. The current scanning centre at The Christie was built in 1980 and must be brought in line with other elements of the hospital. The new scanning centre, due to be operational in 2029, will transform the experience for patients and

staff alike, providing a modern, purpose-built facility with more space, cutting-edge equipment and the capability to support groundbreaking research that could revolutionise cancer diagnosis and treatment. It will also house an advanced 4D CT scanner which is significantly faster and more accurate than existing technology. To make this vision a reality, The Christie Charity needs your support. To help raise awareness and vital funds for the appeal, The Christie Charity is proud to launch a major three-year media partnership with the biggest news outlet in the North West, the Manchester Evening News (MEN). The MEN will be throwing its weight behind dedicated campaign coverage to communities across the region. All funds raised through the appeal will go directly towards building the new scanning centre. We’re also delighted to be working with Transport for Greater Manchester, who will help share the campaign across buses and trams throughout the city.
