Kieran Metcalfe

Kieran Metcalfe was treated for bowel cancer at The Christie for two years before sadly dying last year. In the last 11 weeks of his life, he was cared for as an inpatient by the team on ward 12.

His work is also raising money to help other patients. “We had a Thanksgiving service for him and displayed many of his prints in exchange for a donation and our sons and Kieran’s goddaughter raised money by doing the Manchester Marathon. We’ve raised around £15,000 for The Christie Charity and Maggie’s Manchester so far. I posted about it on his social media and have had so many lovely comments from people all over the world. He meant a lot to so many people,” Susie adds. “Photography was a big part of who Kieran was. It was his way to escape his desk when working from home. If he was in a bit of a grump, I’d suggest he went out with his camera, usually to the Peak District, and he always came back refreshed."
