Ambient speech technology is coming

Plans are progressing well for The Christie to introduce ambient voice technology (AVT) as part of the Future Christie transformation programme. The rollout of the technology will start in surgery and haematology in early 2026. This secure system listens during patient consultations and instantly turns the conversation into accurate clinical notes and a summary for patients. Clinicians check the notes and letters which are generated and can make changes. Clinicians remain in control but no longer need to dictate their letters. Ambient voice technology will greatly improve communications for our patients and will also support our clinical and administration teams in their workflows. We are taking learnings from other NHS organisations who have done this already and working closely with teams in the services to plan and implement the new technology.
