Meeting of the Board of Directors Thursday 31 st March 2022 Digital Services Update March 2022

1.0 Overview This paper outlines the activity undertaken during the period September 2021 to February 2022 to provide evidence of meeting the interim objectives. The paper also outlines the Digital Services objectives for March 2022 to May 2022. Moving forward the digital team are taking into consideration clinical and research ambitions in the development of the next digital strategy. The plan will be to provide a detailed update on the digital strategy at a future board awayday. 2.0 Objectives for the Period March 2022 to May 2022 2022 will see an extension of the interim period to the end of May 2022. The following objectives have been set for this second interim period covering March 2022 to May 2022: 1. Work with the COO to complete the recruitment process for the Chief Information Officer (CIO). (*new*) 2. Deliver the first phase of the two-year EPR Programme (Inc. Unified Tech Fund). A key objective is to ensure the first quarter of the two-year plan is on track, stable and delivering to expected outcomes and that the next year (2022/23) of Tech Funds is released. (*new*) 3. Review and implement Digital Services governance and reporting structures and decision rights. Digital board membership and terms of reference requires review. (*new*) 4. Start work on the refresh of the Clinical Outcomes Unit, including workflow and systemisation for data requests. (*new*) 5. Identify, prioritise, and ensure that the trust complies with all regulatory requirements and addresses key digital risks or has agreed mitigation in place. 6. Identify, prioritise, and progress the key projects identified by the operational divisions; focussing on order comms, ward based electronic prescribing and document management. Reporting regularly on progress to the executive team and management board. 7. Work with the executive team and CCIOs to improve clinical engagement across the Trust. 8. Support the Research and Innovation division in preparing and submitting contributions to national competitive funding applications e.g. BRC, Major Centre renewal etc. 9. Working with the executive team to support staff in the digital team and to maintain a safe a sustainable digital service in preparation for the replacement of the current CIO 10. Maintain financial stability including realising contractor cost savings, implementing asset management changes and CIP returns
