Education The Internal Carers project has recently been launched through the School of Oncology and aims to provide Christie carers with an opportunity to come together and ask questions within an online forum. The first online session was on 22 nd September and the intended audience was Christie carers of newly diagnosed patients.

The issues covered through the forum include; · Becoming a Carer; What does a carer do? · Cancer professionals: who are they and how they can help you.

· What to expect from the first appointment, and future appointments with the clinical team · Understanding the impact of Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy and other forms of cancer treatment. · Complementary Therapies for carers · The impact of caring · Survivorship and long term caring Following the success of the event in September, we will be running 5 further sessions in 2023 for other Christie carers. Responsible Director - Director of Education Responsible Assurance Committee - Quality Sustainability The Board are undertaking training at the November Board of Directors meeting around their responsibilities for achievement of carbon net-zero. Responsible Director – Deputy CEO The Paterson site project progresses. Although the building works will be largely complete by end of December 2022, commissioning works associated with the University of Manchester’s laboratory areas will be complete by March 2023. The team are planning for the movement of The Christie and University research groups into the building in April and May. The road works associated the Multi-tiered car park and Paterson were specified within the planning permissions associated with the builds. These are due to be completed by early December. Other schemes currently in progress include the installation of radiotherapy equipment at Oldham and development of the outpatient pharmacy on the Withington site. Schemes at the planning stage include the Targeted Investment Fund Wards and the replacement of radiotherapy equipment in Salford. Planning has now started for an Advanced Oncology Scanning Centre with formation of a steering group. The board will receive future reports on this. Work continues on the refresh of our overall strategy building on recent board discussions. Further details will be provided by the Executive Medical Director.
