Public BoD papers 28.04.22

• I was extremely happy to speak to my Freedom to speak up guardian. Sue was very attentive and gave the best advice. I felt very safe to speak to her and she guided me in the right direction with regards to people to speak too and documentation to read. • Knowing that I have someone I can speak to in complete confidence, and getting the advice needed to then make an informed decision • Sue was extremely helpful.

Suggestions for improvement of the FTSU service: - • I feel some support for Sue may help to branch out wider. • Perfectly fine as it is.

• I’m not sure how it could be improved but maybe it may be better if HR actually worked to support staff when contacted by the speak up guardian instead of giving generic information and it would be advantageous if the speak up guardians had more power on the same level as a union rep has • More people like Sue! • The lady I spoke with was very informative and explained all of the options I had in great detail, so I think the service is doing absolutely fantastic. • I think it works very well. The introduction of the FTSU champions will help to promote positive speaking up messages and share knowledge. The anonymous feedback will be shared with the HR team for consideration and further discussion with the FTSUG.

11. Conclusion The Board is asked to note the detail in the report and receive a further update in six months’ time.
