About The Christie The Christie opened more than 110 years ago and is now one of the largest cancer centres in Europe, treating more than 44,000 patients each year. As part of the NHS we provide life-saving and life-changing cancer treatments including specialist radiotherapy in one of the world’s largest radiotherapy departments, chemotherapy in the UK’s largest chemotherapy unit; and highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancers. The Christie is also a major centre in the UK for vital cancer research, delivering world-first breakthroughs for over 100 years. One is seven Christie patients participate in research studies and around 650 clinical trials may be taking place at any one time. The Christie charity helps us provide enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. With more than 50,000 active supporters, our charity is vital in our quest to improve cancer treatment and research for all our patients.
